About: This set was inspired by Marianne's fabulous FuzzyWuzzy Shaders, and her All-Purpose FuzzyWuzzy preset works great on a set that already has fur textures. But if there's NO FUR texture -- gasp!! -- and you WANT and NEEEEED fur, then Faux Fur should help fix this little problem and end all those sleepless nights spent tossing and turning and yearning for digital fab fur.

So go on now! Embrace your inner diva! You know you wanna -- and Aiko does, too! And look at poor Victoria up there; she's positively pining for more Faux Fur hats...

The set consists of material shader presets that use bump/displacement settings in combination with seamless tile diffuse maps to give clothing, props, and other objects a fake fur look. There are eight fur presets, each with two options: furry and fuzzy. Furry is the more exaggerated, floofy version. Fuzzy is more subdued and probably best suited for close-up renders so your Faux Fur doesn't look quite so Faux. Options to colorize grayscale presets are included -- with fur colors never found in Nature! -- as well as a detailed help file in HTML format.

Please Note: Because the diffuse map used for the shader set is not customized to any specific item, the size of the pattern will be determined by the specifics of the object file mesh and material zones. The shaders should work for most projects, but no guarantees they'll work perfectly on every prop, figure, outfit, etc.

Also, keep in mind that displacement alters the surface of the mesh, so anything over the "fur" will likely have poke through. I don't know of any way to avoid this. To work around the problem, though, you could try to a) make the object larger using Scale/morphs or nudge it slightly forward; b) hide the object if re-scaling it isn't possible (change the Opacity to 0% in the Surface tab), or c) render the image twice, once with the fur part hidden, and assemble the final image in Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, etc.
